Finding alien life on a distant planet would be amazing news - or would it? If we are not the only intelligent life in the universe, this probably means our days are numbered and doom is certain.

    • 1 big omission... we might not be evolved enough to identify super civilizations. The predicate that we observe and understand every single cosmical object is wrong. Also, we have no knowledge of how harvesting a star or a galaxy could be done, how could we identify it is being done? (We barely manage to identify planets around stars a few decades ago) Plus we are still receiving "old" lights from far away places of the universe. The further we look the older it is and therefore the more our view of what exists right now at these places is out dated. Maybe harvesting a galaxy has already been done somewhere far away but we just have not receive the light to show us it has yet. Many more hypothesis that can be made that remove the fermi paradox.

  • None of you truly have human consciousness. You are all the biology of the human without the mind/soul/consciousness of the human. The DNA that enables you to experience human consciousness is kept dormant in all humans. Human biology is kept poisoned, malnourished and deprived of essential vitamins and minerals to keep the human mind in a state of deterioration and susceptible to control. You are all filled with and controlled by parasitic organisms of many varieties and functions. These parasites have such a sophisticated level of control over the human mind that mainstream science will never aknowledge it. You are all perpetually polluted with poisonous synthetic chemicals and radiation that contributes to your deterioration and lack of mind control. You beings were designed to be controlled and dominanted by non human intelligences. Only one with true human consciousness can give you creatures access to human consciousness....and true immortality.

So we are Late comers to the Universe. Where is everyone ? The only Logical conclusion is something is making all the people in the town disappear ? A Filter ?

  • This means that humans are making their own wall And at the end you ask them to make the wall come faster so we can reset it!? Welp Common senses are non-senses

  • It might be bad for us as a species. But that doesn't make imagining life elsewhere in the universe any less interesting. Now that we've grown brains this big, we can obviously realize that the universe doesn't revolve around us. Yes, we need to be able to live, thrive and multiply to survive. But if we don't... the universe will still be complex and amazing.

    Jesse OJesse OVor Tag
  • What if the criteria for life, such as the distance from a star, liquid water etc. are wrong? What if there are life forms completely outside our spectrum of senses and our devices can`t detect them. We already know there are species on this planet that see or hear differently. What if our senses just cannot recognize something we don`t even know exists around us or in the universe? What if there are life forms or entire civilizations that are made out of dark matter, or photons or something supernatural that is just completely outside anything we can detect? Something like ghosts but actually living organisms. I know it sounds crazy but the universe is so vast the possibilities are endless. Why limit the creation of life to the criteria of star distance and water temperature? There might be parts of the universe, in which there is absolutely no water, but something different, elements we don`t even know exist and haven`t discovered and possibly can`t even exist in our part of the universe for some reason we also don`t know about.

    chiruscdachiruscdaVor 2 Tage
    • Because Water is believed to be Universal solvent (Dissolves every single compound or chemical easiest). For Building Block of life like DNA of ours, It needed many elements to mix. This happened during early earth, And DNA formed out of water, No doubt about it. Of course, Life has been predicted to exist even on surface of Stars made of Plasma. But would we be interested in coming in contact with them ? Won't be much benefit to us if we can't even reach it, Since we don't even have the Technology to go anywhere close near a Star, Forget landing on one. So to meet alien life forms similar to us, It is best we look for Planets with Water.

    • Evolution rules out your idea that Humans were just created by others, We have no doubt descended from Apes, Apes from Mammals, Mammals from Lizards, Lizards from Fishes, Fishes from Worms, Worms from Water Plants, Water plants from Bacteria, Bacteria from First Life (Single cell). But what you say could apply for the First life (Single Cell) - Because First life is still a mystery, Everything after that we already know how Evolution happened. So inserting your theory in parts that we already know makes no sense. There is Pan-spermia theory that the first life was seeded by Comets on our Planets. These Comets could have come from anywhere.. So there you can apply your theory that Life itself originated from another Planet, another star or maybe even another galaxy !

  • The fundamental erroneous assumption in this vid is that space is void of life. The fact that we haven't detected other civilizations doesn't mean there are none; those nearby are just not using radio waves as we are - foolishly broadcasting everything about themselves out into space for anyone to hear. Also, one race could not conceivably colonize the galaxy - 10 billion earth-like planets it said? Finally, the great filter is indeed ahead of us - we are on its cusp. It is the Great Waves of Change of environmental degradation and depletion, and contact with intelligent life in the universe - intelligent life that is already upon our shores.

    AaronAaronVor 2 Tage
    • Hi +MelodicNostalgic, yeah. Likely the universe is a competitive environment on an unimaginable scale. Worlds and groups are therefore discreet. They communicate; but selectively and carefully, so as not to draw unwanted attention and influence upon themselves. Broadcasting ones conflicts and weaknesses invites exploitation of them. Not by all other civilizations; but by particular predatory groups who are seeking resources and opportunity wherever they can find it.

  • Universe seems depressing. Even more so after this filter phenomena was revealed from you guys ;-) Now let's combine three specific theories: 1/ The filter theory that you just presented 2/ Universe constant expanding theory with galaxy getting apart from us. That in a billion of years would be only us and the closest other galaxy Andromeda that is kind of collapsing with the Milky Way. And like eight or 9 billion years from now if we still exist our main problem would be to find a still living star different from the brown dwarf. And that is if we manage to overcome time the FTL predicament. 3/ The 1% difference in intellect phenomena. The one that states that the monkeys are 99 something percentage like us. And what the 101% smarter species would look like having in mind that for example monkeys are lacking culture, art, and computers. Now having in mind these three I keep asking myself why do we even bother? ;-) Having all that said let us try for some logical explanation of the situation: it's obvious AI would do all our work and since there will be no external needs for the human species to fight for we will degrade. That would take around 500 years I guess if we do not cure each other or our own AI won't kill us all as civilization. So far so good. The best possible negative scenarios that we will degrade and die as a civilization peacefully in a millennia. Can there be a more advanced civilization that hides from us just because they are waiting to see what will happen? That means that there is a filter in front of us that might wipe us out but if not the big reward would be some new extraterrestrial friends that have observed us for a very long time and are awaiting to see if we can behave so together to go to try fight with the problems stated in 2/. Now I do realize that this is a long shot and it is as long as God is with presumption. And that also concerns me on the other hand because you can imagine that anyone that can reach FTL most probably could play around with time and in my opinion the one that can play with time can present in front of us just as God and our poor logic would hardly be able to distinguish and prove 3% smarter than us aren't our creators. The worst part is that we are not prepared for such endeavor. Anyways. Please excuse me for my dark thoughts which actually were inspired by your always dark themed lovely videos. I am a very positive person as long as we are not talking about the cosmos. ;-)

Just like if you saw a computer for the first time you would have no idea what it was, it would just look like a metal box. Aliens could be intelligent code itself and might even be here already hiding in our data streams... Or traveling throughout the universe in beams of light... And if that was the case, time would be operating at different speeds for them, making communication very interesting...

As to them not being near our universe, they are definitely in our universe because EVERYTHING is in the universe. They might not be in our galaxy, however. You also have no way of knowing if they're in our galaxy or not because we can only detect radio signals within a 20 light year distance from earth, and the milky way is about 100,000 light-years across. So we can't detect most life by radio waves, and any light we do see coming from our galaxy is 10,000 to 90,000 light years old, meaning we could be seeing the birthplace of civilizations, but not the civilizations themselves that exist there.

The UFO phenomenon no longer needs to be proven. There are pilots, police officers, politicians, air traffic controllers, astronauts, crowds of people who can testify that it is a reallity. Not to mention the abductees, implants, and all that. If we didn’t find anything in space (which is not true) it’s because we don't want to see. That doesn't mean that some filter doesn't exist... Lights out. 0:18 the classic tinfoil hats... 2:20 the argument that other planets have been around for billions of years and so there must have been civilizations billions of years ago is fallacious. The galaxy was a much more volatile place, so it seems more likely that, now that the galaxy has 'settled', all life in the galaxy is just getting started with 'higher intelligence', which accounts for our 'seeing nothing' (yet) ( 7:50 explores this), which renders the Great Filter idea erroneous, and moot. 3:36 No consensus on how life is created 'from' inanimate matter. The error in this thinking is that 'life' IS inanimate matter in motion. So there is no 'from', and we need to rethink or thinking with that perspective... also we DO know how complex structures (and organisms) form from matter - it is called 'molecular self-assembly'. 5:13 "Maybe intelligence is not so great..." Ridiculous sophism which hypocritically uses intelligence to erroneously question it. Now for the 'partial' intelligence and the 'flawed' intelligence underlying the silly statement, sure - it is not so great. 5:32 Gamma ray burst. 6:30 Good list of doomsday scenarios. 6:49 "Or things that we can't even see coming..." 8:18 The 'Goldilocks' idea is flawed - life can exist outside of it, and it does not take into account a volatile galaxy just settling enough to allow intelligence life to come into existence (by pure chance). 9:22 Parting shot, "If you do find other life, leave them alone for a while". Bad idea with respect to Broader Survival (endeavoring to secure enlightened higher consciousness (humans are not there yet, enter me) in a harsh and deadly universe, where enlightening all life in the galaxy is critical.

  • I believe that “the human brain isn’t useful in a fight against a bear” (what he said ☝️is true 99 times out of 100 but still shouldn’t be accepted as fact. Three weeks ago from writing this now, a Colorado-dwelling man killed a full-grown mountain lion that attacked him while jogging, with his bare hands, and human mind. Look it up. We’re animals too man; a bear will definitely kill me within minutes, obviously, but he’s not gonna have a good time doing it. Also it’ll possibly go blind due to my immediate gauging attempts, which would break my heart cuz I love bears. The point is: don’t rule out your wild side.
